The greatest thing about Twitter to my mind is just how precise your targeting can be.
If you have even the most obscure niche, you can use search.twitter.com to find anyone, anywhere, anytime by what they have to say. You can even surf around joining in conversations in real time with a timely message.
Hard sell doesn't work!
The secret to Twitter is it's subtlety. People will genuinely follow you if you are interesting enough. That's about it. If you are talking the right language at the right time, people will engage with your dialogue. Just how they may engage is far broader than first thought. Using abbreviated links that lead to relevant content is super effective but more so is the interaction with your profile website. If it's fun people come back.
If it says Bread, it must be Bread.
Relevance is the key once more. The Robots crunch through the logirithm using relevance as a guiding light and measure. If you are talking about equestrian training on your Twitter page, don't send links to motorparts pages.
You get the idea. Google and the other engines always reward quality. Use fresh links to quality content and the Robots will tick the good box and you inch up the rankings. Rinse and repeat and you can fly up the charts.

You don't need to be some irritating guru to make money online. A good honest product or service can vastly increase it's market share with some simple strategies like this one for Twitter.
